Zulum hands over apartments, N79 million to Borno medical doctors

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state s handed over three-bedroom apartments and N79 million to 81 resident medical doctors in the state.
The fully furnished apartments on airport road, Maiduguri, comprise 13 blocks of two-story buildings with six flats each.
Presenting the keys and N79 million cheques, yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri, Zulum disclosed that Dr Bulama Gaidam is currently in the captivity of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, after his abduction last March.
“Dr Gaidam was kidnapped, while serving the people at the General Hospital, Gubio,” he said,
He said that the N79 million is to furnish the allocated medical doctors’ apartments.
The Governor also ordered two buses for the doctors’ quarters for their commuting to various hospitals.
According to him, the doctors’ quarters have also perimeter fencing, landscaping with flowers and sporting facilities.
Besides, he added that the doctors have three additional apartments at the Muhammed Shuwa Memorial Hospital in the Government Reservation Area (GRA).

He, therefore, urged the doctors to form a residents’ association through which they can make contributions towards sustaining the housing facilities and communal safety.
He noted that with the allocations of apartments will improve the welfare of doctors for better healthcare delivery services to the people.
