Zulum launches Development Community almanac with N20m donation in Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has launched the Marama Community Development Association (MCDA) almanac by donating N20 million. According to him, the almanack would promote tourism in creating job opportunities for sustained peace and development in the state.
Zulum, represented by his Deputy, Usman Kadafur disclosed: “l’ve also donated N10 million for the Bura Women Association (BUWA) to procure skill acquisition materials for the Marama training centre.
While thanking the governor and his deputy, and other dignitaries, at the launching, the Council Chairman of Hawul, Hussaini Malgwi, said: “The Marama annual cultural festival is usually held on January 1, of every year in the council.”
He said that the Marama Cultural Day (MCD) was conceived in 2004 for in the country and ones in diaspora for communal interactions to promote culture and traditions among the various communities.
Highlighting the importance of culture, Kadafur stated; “The state government is committed to support initiatives that could promote cultural preservations and development in communities.
He added that “This could be achieved by recognising the importance of cultural festivals in enhancing tourism in the state.
He also reiterated the Zulum’s administration of providing infrastructural facilities and service delivery in the health and education sectors.
He explained that they will create an enabling environment for the sustenance of various socio-economic activities. He, therefore, pledged to improve the living conditions of Marama people and the ones in the state.
