Zulum names housing estate, school after VP Shettima, two others in Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has named the Metro Housing Estate and Government Secondary School, Mairi, after Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Ibn El-Kanemi.
Zulum also announced naming the Njimtilo 500 housing units after Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State for his leadership qualities in the Northeast.
Declaring the naming of inaugurated housing and school projects yesterday (Thursday) in Maiduguri, the governor stated, “Today’s multiple events are testaments to this administration’s commitment to affordable houses for residents and the paramilitary personnel working in the state.’
Additionally, he said that the inaugurated Sanda Kyari dual carriageway is also named after Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Ibn El-Kanemi.
Besides the housing projects at Njimtilo and Metro, he said the Flyover Bridge at Borno Express Terminus will overcome the challenges of commuting in the Maiduguri metropolis, including the gridlocks of traffic along major roads in the state capital.
“They will also improve our infrastructural facilities to boost economic growth and development of the state,” he said.
He, therefore, pledged a continued dedication to infrastructure development, including the rural-urban renewals to mitigate climate change and environmental degradation.
“The presence of governor Buni in inaugurating the housing and infrastructure projects, underscores the cordial relationship between the two states in culture, norms and traditions,” said Zulum.
He noted that with the people’s shared norms and traditions, the two states are committed to regional socio-economic development.
Highlighting Yobe’s investments in the health, education, agriculture, and empowerment sectors, Buni said: “Our N14 billion agricultural, and empowerment programme; was inaugurated last July by the Vice President Kashim Shettima to boost food security and livelihoods of 5,340 farmers.”
He added that the N2.93 billion initiative; was also launched to support small businesses and the vulnerable groups affected in the over a decade Boko Haram insurgency.
He urged the people to take ownership of the inaugurated housing and roads projects to improve their living conditions.
Buni also extended an invitation to Zulum for the commissioning of completed several legacy projects in the first quarter of next year.
