Zulum raises Borno casual workers’ salaries to N30,000

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has raised the casual workers’ monthly salaries by 200 per cent.
The 285 casual workers are drawn from the Government House, Maiduguri, Borno State Environment Protection Agency (BOSEPA) and Confer sanitation firm.
Announcing the salary increase, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri, Zulum disclosed that the casual workers are to receive N30,000 a month, instead of N10,000.
The total annual wage bill of workers will now be N102.6 million.
According to him, the increase in salaries is based on their hard work and the risks associated with keeping the environment clean.
“As the Ramadan fast commences; each of you is to get a bag of rice and 10kg of sugar,” he said.

Other food and non-food items distributed for Ramadan to each worker, comprise five yards each of cloth and wrappers.
Besides, he added that each worker is being provided with two kilogrammes of meat and five litres of cooking oil.
The Governor however charged them to pray for the restoration of peace in the state and the country.
On his part, he prayed that the Boko Haram insurgency does not reoccur in the northeast and entire North.
He noted that let, not the grandchildren witness another insurgency in the state.
