Zulum, Shettima Lead Muslims At Eid Prayers In Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, along with the Vice-President-elect, Sen. Kashim Shettima led thousands of Muslims at the Eid prayers in Maiduguri metropolis.
The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin Ibn El-Kanemi also joined the Muslims for the Eid-al-Fitr prayers at Ramat Square, Maiduguri.
Delivering his sermon, yesterday (Friday), in Maiduguri, the Imam Idain of Borno, Imam Shettima Saleh, disclosed: “Fasting for six days during the month of Shauwal is important in sustaining the virtues of Islam among the Muslims.”

He, therefore, solicited the Muslims to pray for the restoration of peace in the State and country at large.
Barely performing the Eid prayers, the Shehu of Borno, Ibn El-Kanemi hosted an hour Durbar for the Sallah celebration at his Maiduguri palace.
His words: “This is the first time a Durbar is taking place, since the Boko Haram insurgency of July 2009 that claimed many lives and property in the state.”
According to monarch, the durbar festival, is a long tradition of observing Sallah festivities involving district, village and ward heads among other title holders in Borno emirate.
He added that royal families match pass on horses adorned with colourful traditional regalia at the palace.
Dignitaries that attended both the Eid prayers and Durbar included; the Deputy Governor, Usman Kadafur, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman (North), Abubakar Kyari.
Others were the Borno Central Senator-elect, Kaka Shehu Lawan, members of the State and National Assembly members-elect, Bukar Talba, and some members of the State Executive Council (SEC)
