Zulum unveils Borno flyovers-roads networks for 2023

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has unveiled the 2023 Maiduguri flyovers and road network to ease traffic gridlocks and commuting in the metropolis.
The road network comprises the construction of two flyovers at Borno Express junction and Westend Roundabout and the construction of a dual carriageway from Shehu’s roundabout to Songhai.
Zulum disclosed this, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri, while presenting the 2023 Budget of N234.8 billion to the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the State government plans to complete and commission all ongoing projects across the state.

“We plan to construct a fly-over at the Borno Express junction; including the construction of a dual carriage road from Shehu’s roundabout to Songhai,” he said.
Besides, he added that a by-pass from Kano to Gubio roads is to be constructed to overcome the challenges of commuting and traffic gridlocks in the metropolis.
Other road networks to be completed, he said include the construction of township roads in Monguno and the completion of Maiduguri-Bama and Damboa-Chibok roads in 2023.
On other roads in the state, he said: “Government also intends to complete the 30-km Damboa-Chibok-Mbalala road project,” as well as the construction of Askira township roads.
Continued; “In 2023 there will be new construction of eight kilometres of road and drainage network within the stadium in Maiduguri.
Speaking on the perennial flooding, he said: “There will be 16km side drain and 3.7km outfalls, as well as the rehabilitation of 1.11km of road and drainage at Goni Adam Street and London Ciki community.
“We’ll reinforce a concrete side drain and outfall drainages along the 10-km dual carriageway from Custom to Muna gate.”
Besides, he added that other rehabilitation of road projects include the construction of drainage facilities on three streets within the Polo Government Reservation Areas (GRA).
“The spur road will be completed next to link the Polo dual carriageway to both ease traffic gridlocks and commuting in the metropolis,” he said.
Other rural feeder roads to be completed next year; include Mafa-Manawaji, Gulak-Izge, and Baga-Dam roads.
According to him, to complete the Maiduguri metropolis and rural feeder roads projects, the Ministry of Works earmarked N25.1 billion in 2023.
