Buni signs N164 billion budget into law for next year

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has signed the N164 billion budget into law for the 2022 fiscal year.
The appropriation bill tagged: “The Budget of Continuity, Empowerment and Accelerated Development,” decreased by N101 million by the State House of Assembly.

Signing the budget into law Friday at the Government House, Damaturu, Buni disclosed that the assented budget will focus on the completion of ongoing capital projects across the state.
Besides, he added that the State Government will initiate new projects to create more job opportunities to promote self-reliance among youths.
He said the budget will concentrate on provision of basic infrastructural facilities to accelerate economic development and growth.
On the internally generated revenues (IGR), he said that the education and agricultural sectors will be reinvigorated and harnessed capital and human resources to create more job opportunities with increased local revenues.
According to him, the recurrent and capital expenditures for the 2022 fiscal year stood at N90.3 billion and N73.7 billion respectively.
He noted that the prompt passage of the budget indicated the cordial working relationship between the two arms of government.

“This is our collective commitment to move the state forward,” he said; adding that they will continue to strengthen synergy to improve people’s living conditions across the state.
He said that the Treasury Single Account (TSA) will be established with the restructuring of IGR services for the efficient collection of revenues by ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
