2022 International Women’s day: Bauchi First Lady commends FIDA-Nigeria On GSBV Cases/ Interventions
The wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed has commended the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) for always championing the cause of women and girls by giving attention to cases of sexual and Gender-based violence in the state.
Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed stated this yesterday during the 2022 International Women’s day celebration organized by FIDA in Bauchi. FIDA Nigeria, Bauchi branch honoured Dr Aisha Mohammad with an award in recognition for her humanitarian services and impact on the lives of women in the state.
The Governor’s wife lauded the participation of FIDA in reviewing the Violence against Persons Prohibition law(VAPP), Administration of Criminal Justice and Child Right Act to conform with religious and cultural beliefs just as she advised the women not to be confrontational but diplomatic in seeking for their constitutional rights.

She lamented that women are mostly the cause of their problems by not remaining resolute and supporting their own through thick and thin.
“We need to change our attitudes towards each other, let us shun sabotage, envy, jealousy, hate, and differences among us. I enjoin you to create awareness and sensitize yourself against all those barriers and differences to forge ahead” She said
Earlier, the Chairperson of FIDA in Bauchi, Barrister Fatima Abubakar, said that the award was part of the lineup programmes to celebrate 2022 International Women’s Day.

She said that the recipient of the award has facilitated the release of 30 inmates in Bauchi state demand home, adding that the first lady made a giant stride to establish Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender and Sexual Based Violence with a composition of all the stakeholders in the state.
According to the chairperson, the First Lady has remained committed to ensuring that cases of GSBV were reported for justice to take its course.
