Gombe — Youths and women drawn from across the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State have declared unwavering support for former Deputy Governor, Usman Bayero Nafada, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement followed a special strategy meeting convened by the Nafada Youth and Women Committee, held at the Government House in Gombe on Monday, where participants deliberated on the political future of the state and their expectations for the next electoral cycle.
According to organisers, the gathering was aimed at reaching a unified position on the role the former senator should play in the 2027 elections, amid growing calls from supporters urging him to take a decisive step toward what they described as “rescuing and repositioning” Gombe State.
Speakers at the meeting, representing various local government areas, unanimously expressed confidence in Nafada’s leadership capacity, pledging to align fully with any political decision he makes ahead of the polls.
“We are fully behind him. Whatever decision he takes will be our decision,” one of the youth leaders said, reflecting the general mood at the meeting. “Our commitment is total, and we are ready to mobilise support across the state.”
The committee also commended Nafada’s past contributions at both federal and state levels, particularly his efforts in empowering young people and creating opportunities for self-reliance. Many attendees noted that his track record has earned him strong loyalty among youths in Gombe.
Participants further emphasised that their support is driven by a desire to secure better prospects for women and young people, especially in areas of employment, education, and inclusive governance.
The meeting ended with special prayers for guidance and success as the group prepares for the political activities leading up to 2027.
The development signals an early build-up of political momentum in Gombe State, as stakeholders begin aligning ahead of what is expected to be a keenly contested election season.
