Adamawa new CP to give priority to community policing
Mr Dankwambo Morris, the new Commissioner of Police in Adamawa has assumed duty on Wednesday with a pledge to give priority to community policing.
The reports gathered that Morris took over from Mr Afolabi Babatola, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and posted to take charge of Zone 3, Yola.
“All over the world, community policing is a modern way of policing in a democratic society which is positive and result oriented, because this system brings or involves the locals in solving or tackling crimes and criminalities.
“To this end, there will be an effective collaboration between the police, hunters, vigilantes, Tabital Pulaaku and traditional rulers,’’ he said.
According to him, the command will also continue to synergise with other security agencies to make the state safer for all.
He urged people in the state to have due respect for law and order and support the police with credible security information.
Morris said this would enable the command to “deal firmly with all acts of criminalities ranging from kidnapping, menace of ‘Shilla’ boys, cattle rustling, armed robbery and other forms of anti-social vices.”
The commissioner of police said this would help to build on the proactive measures emplaced by his predecessor to secure the state.
In his comment, Babatola thanked the officers and men of the command for their support during his tenure and urged them to extend same support and cooperation to the new CP.
