At Least 10 Killed in Zambian Mine Collapse
A devastating mine collapse in southwest Zambia has claimed the lives of at least 10 people, with five others injured, according to police reports.
The incident occurred on Monday morning in the Mumbwa district. Central Police Commissioner Charity Munganga Chanda explained that the collapse happened during mining activities when the earth suddenly caved in on the workers.
Rescue efforts initially recovered six people from the rubble, but one miner later succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
