AU Lauds MNJTF’s Triumphs in Lake Chad Basin Operation
In a recent visit to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Headquarters in Farcha, N’Djamena, the African Union (AU) Assessment Team commended the MNJTF for its remarkable operational achievements in the Lake Chad Basin region.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer at MNJTF Headquarters, which was shared with newsmen in Maiduguri.
Colonel Bedda Tumushabe, a strategic support cell officer at AU Headquarters, led the AU team and highlighted the impressive successes of MNJTF’s recent Operation Lake Sanity 2.
He noted significant milestones, including the mass surrender of insurgents and the rescue of numerous individuals across the region.
“These achievements, Tumushabe stated, have greatly motivated continued support from various international partners, fueling optimism for the eventual eradication of terrorist threats in the Lake Chad Basin.
Responding to the AU’s praise, Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, Force Commander of the MNJTF, expressed profound gratitude for the AU’s ongoing support.
He emphasised the critical role this backing has played in the MNJTF’s operational success and stressed the need for sustained commitment from all troop-contributing countries to fully realise the task force’s mandate.
General Ali also highlighted the importance of strengthened cooperation between the AU and the MNJTF to ensure long-term security and stability in the region.
He reiterated the necessity for enhanced collaboration to build on the current achievements and secure lasting peace in the Lake Chad Basin.
