Benue Attacks: Agatu Chairman Ejeh, Vows to Restore Peace Amid Repeated Herdsmen Attacks
Agatu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Melvin James Ejeh, has strongly condemned the latest attack by suspected herdsmen on Okwutanobe Village in Agatu West, Benue State, where houses were razed and livestock stolen. This incident is the latest in a series of attacks that have plagued the Agatu Local Government Council, particularly in Agatu West.
Ejeh expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Armed Forces and Nigerian Police Force for their swift response through Operation Whirl Stroke, which successfully repelled the bandits and restored peace to the community. The joint effort demonstrated the effectiveness of collaboration between security agencies.
To address the ongoing security concerns, a clearance operation has commenced in the entire Agatu local government area. This operation aims to eliminate the influx of herdsmen and bandits, ensuring the safety and well-being of Agatu residents.
Hon. Ejeh assured residents that his administration prioritizes peace, stability, and development in Agatu. He emphasized his commitment to rebuilding ruined communities within the shortest possible time. The administration urges criminal elements to surrender and repent from their ways, promising that no stone will be left unturned in achieving lasting peace for sustainable development.
Ejeh reaffirmed that Agatu belongs to its people, stating that no one can chase them away from their ancestral home. He called on criminal elements to seize the opportunity to surrender and repent, paving the way for a peaceful and prosperous Agatu.
