Books for Africa/ Al-Ansar Foundation distribute books worth $ 300,000 to 23 institutions in Nigeria
Books for Africa in collaboration with Al-Ansar Foundation has distributed over 20,000 books worth over 300,000 Dollars to 23 institutions across Nigeria.
The President and Founder of the Al-Ansar Foundation Dr Muhammad Kyari Dikwa stated this while speaking during the official launch of distribution of the books at Al-Ansar Centre For Comprehensive Education (Acce), Abuja
He said that the books range from Nursery, Primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across different subjects.
Dr Dikwa said that the gesture is to complement government efforts at providing quality education to teeming youths especially those that cannot afford it.
“Al-Ansar Foundation believes in the power of education in all ramifications. It is one of the cardinal objectives we relentlessly and vigorously pursue in our quest to serve humanity. This belief is hinged on the fact that with access to proper and relevant education; citizens, especially those who cannot afford it, can have a guaranteed future that supports the sustainability of any nation.
“It is against this backdrop that Al-Ansar Foundation committed enormous resources through its educational programmes in complementing government efforts at all levels in ensuring that citizens especially the youths have access to quality education with little or no cost.
“what you are witnessing today is a testament to our firmed belief and commitment to using education as a tool to create and provide viable opportunities for children and youths to act as agents of social change through capacity building and advocacy. Furthermore, we at Al-Ansar Foundation see education as an instrument for promoting the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of Nigerians irrespective of creed, religion, social or political affiliations.
He said that the Foundation is working assiduously to secure a robust partnership with Books for Africa for the donation of the books that are distributed to selected institutions of learning across the country.
“Therefore, let me use this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our partner – Books for Africa for deeming it necessary to release dozens of these books for use in Nigeria through our Foundation.
“We are indeed proud to associate and collaborate with you for being the largest shipper of donated text and library books to Page 5 of 8 the African continent, shipping over 53 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988.
Dr Dikwa said that in an effort of Books for Africa and Al-Ansar Foundation’s determination to strengthen the frontiers of education, a total of 23 institutions have been carefully selected as beneficiaries of this program.
He added that the tertiary Institutions category, are Nile University, Abuja, University of Abuja, University of Maiduguri, Al-Istiqama University, Kano, Crescent University Abeokuta and Fountain University Oshogbo
Others are Proposed Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, University of Port-Harcourt, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Borno State University Maiduguri, Nasarawa State University Keffi and Proposed Pen Resource University, Gombe, Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri and Al-Ma’arif College of Health Sciences Damaturu
While beneficiary schools at the primary and secondary school categories include: Al-Ansar Centre for Comprehensive Education, Abuja Al-Ansar Academy Suleja, Al-Ansar Academy Maiduguri.
