BRAVE-IT Condemns Militia Attacks in Plateau State, Calls for Action
A civil advocacy group, Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism Insurgency and Terrorism BRAVE-IT, has strongly denounced the recent onslaught by armed militia in multiple areas of Plateau State, leading to the tragic loss of innocent lives in Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Mangu Local Government Areas.
The organization applauded the prompt and effective response of the Nigerian Army and other Security Agencies in the State, acknowledging their decisive actions that helped prevent further casualties.
Lawrence Audu, Director of Communication for BRAVE-IT, in a statement , emphasized the importance of collective action and solidarity in the face of security challenges, advocating for a united front in the pursuit of peace and justice.
Highlighting the dedication and bravery of security personnel who risk their lives daily to protect citizens, BRAVE-IT expressed gratitude for their unwavering commitment and professionalism.
BRAVE-IT extended its appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for swiftly offering hope and support to the affected victims, underscoring the importance of national leadership during such challenging times.
In addition, the organization commended Chief of Defence Staff General CG Musa and other service Chiefs for their immediate presence on the ground, demonstrating solidarity with the victims and their families, providing a sense of reassurance and support.
As a result, BRAVE-IT called on the authorities to establish a high-powered commission of inquiry to thoroughly investigate the attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice. The organization also urged citizens to continue supporting the country’s troops, especially during this period of heightened security threats.
