Buni hails Yobeans on anniversary, despite security challenges, others

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has congratulated the people on its 32nd anniversary, despite the over decade security challenges.
According to him, the State was created on August 27, 1991 by late General Sani Abacha (rtd).
Buni, in a State-wide broadcast, yesterday (Sunday), in Damaturu, disclosed: “The people have every reason to appreciate God for the journey in spite of the security challenges, tribulations and ugly experiences that bedeviled our state.”
Besides, he noted: “Our resilience, support and cooperation of the people had been quite rewarding in our journey to have travelled this far,” stating that the State has achieved a lot with much hope for a socio-economic prosperity.

He said this was despite the security challenges that threatened the existence of the State that was created 32 years ago.
The Governor, consequently, thanked the people for supporting government policies and programmes on the post insurgency recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction process for a better State.
He also commended Yobeans in the diaspora for their contributions and interest in the developments of the State.
Besides their contribution, he noted that the Diasporas had the zeal in moving the State forward.
On the security challenges, he said: “This administration will continue to invest and collaborate with security agencies for a safer and prosperous state.
“We are grateful to the military, security agencies and the people of the state for their collective determination in fighting terrorism in the state.”
He, therefore, assured that government will continue to invest in infrastructures, education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, wealth creation and employment of youths.
Continued: “Government will create the enabling environment to support you to realise your potential and contribute your quota to the development of the State.”
Other sectors to be accorded priority, include commerce, water, sanitation and environment among others in fast-tracking the development of the State.
He, therefore, enjoined the people to promote peaceful coexistence, stating that political, cultural and religious differences should not be allowed to create hate and setbacks in their collective tasks of building a prosperous State.
