Buni reads riot act to contractors over non-completion of projects in Yobe
Tada Juthan, Maiduguri
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has tasked the projects monitoring committee (PMC) to evaluate capital projects before commissioning them.
According to him, it was to ensure timely completion of projects, and in accordance withthe terms of agreements with contractors.
Buni gave the task, on Tuesday in Damaturu, while reading the riot act to the defaulting contractors at project sites.
“This is to ensure that the projects are completed, according to our terms of contracts.
He said that the completion of projects was to stand the test time, including specifications with project standards.
“We must have value for money spent on all the projects executed by this administration. He noted that this is in line with state policy on transparency and accountability to the people.
Buni, therefore, directed the projects’ engineers not to compromise on contractual specifications and completion deadlines.
He warned that the state government will not condone unnecessary delays in completing the projects with the substandard works of engineers.
“We expect contractors to live up to their responsibilities of complying to all the terms agreements with government,” he warned.
