Buni supports 200 Yobe orphans with N10 million acquire skills

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has supported 200 orphans with N10 million to acquire various skills and other trades.
The orphans affected in the 13-year Boko Haram terrorism, were drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Disbursing the funds, yesterday (Saturday), in Damaturu, the Governor said that the support was to engage the orphans with N50, 000 each acquire vocational skills.
“This gesture was to assist the orphans with a little start-up capital,” he said.

He noted that the skills and other trades could make them become self-reliant and add value to their lives.
Responding, Coordinator of the programme, Babagana Kyari, who doubles as Special Adviser of the Governor on Religious Affairs said that this is the first time a large number of orphans are supported with skills acquisitions.
He said that the skills to be acquired could prevent the orphans from street begging.
He, therefore, called on guardians of orphans to support them by judicious use of resources.
