The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, recently embarked on a two-day operational tour of Nigerian Air Force units in Enugu and Port Harcourt. The visit aimed to assess the units’ operational readiness and infrastructural development, focusing on enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
In Enugu, Air Marshal Abubakar inspected the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group and the International Helicopter Flying School, interacting with personnel and discussing strategies to improve operational performance. He stressed the importance of maintaining high preparedness levels to address current and emerging security challenges.
The CAS emphasized his commitment to implementing developmental projects and procuring critical service facilities to elevate unit standards. “Our goal is to ensure vibrant and effective service delivery across all platforms,” he stated.
Air Marshal Abubakar extended the tour to the 115 Special Operations Group in Port Harcourt, reassessing operational readiness and identifying areas for infrastructural upgrades. He reassured personnel that efforts to provide better facilities and equipment will be prioritized.
This operational tour demonstrates the CAS’s determination to strengthen the Nigerian Air Force’s airpower capabilities through strategic infrastructure development, operational support, and personnel welfare.
The Nigerian Air Force has been actively involved in various operations, including counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism efforts, and has received praise from the Defence Minister for its contributions to national security. The Air Force has also committed to enhancing its Safety Management Systems across all units.
