CCN mourns Tragic Maiduguri flooding, calls for urgent action, Support
The Concerned Citizens of the Northeast (CCN) has expressed deep sorrow and condolences following the devastating flooding that struck Maiduguri today.
This catastrophic event has severely affected numerous families, displacing residents and destroying homes, property, and livelihoods.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary General Babangida Inuwa Muhammad made available to newsmen in Maiduguri.
CCN emphasised the urgent need for coordinated efforts by the Borno State Government and other relevant authorities to provide immediate relief, including access to clean water, food, shelter, and medical services.
“This distressing incident underscores the critical need for proactive measures to mitigate the region’s vulnerabilities to severe weather, particularly flooding,” the group noted.
CCN also called for a comprehensive evaluation of drainage systems and other infrastructure to develop long-term solutions that could prevent similar tragedies in the future.
They highlighted the ongoing challenge flooding poses to Maiduguri and the broader Northeast, stressing the importance of environmental planning and sustainable urban development.
Commending the swift response by local volunteers, emergency workers, and humanitarian agencies, the group urged residents to continue offering support to those affected.
As Maiduguri begins the long road to recovery, CCN remains steadfast in its advocacy for the welfare of the region’s residents, calling for unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
