DHQ Launches Probe into Alleged Unlawful Detention of seaman Haruna
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has initiated an investigation into allegations of the prolonged and unjust detention of Seaman Abbas Haruna, a Naval rating, following a viral video that raised public concerns.
The video claims Haruna has been held for six years without due process, prompting immediate action from military authorities.
In an official statement by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.
The DHQ emphasized its commitment to justice and the rule of law.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has ordered a swift inquiry into the matter, promising that the findings will be made public.
The DHQ urged Nigerians to refrain from circulating unverified information and reassured the public that the military’s court-martial procedures are thorough and fair.
A transparent investigation and prompt resolution are expected.
