Empowering Women, Transforming Africa: CBW-Africa to Host Landmark Summit in Lagos
Lagos is set to become the epicenter of female entrepreneurship as the Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW-Africa) prepares to host a high-impact empowerment and capacity-building summit.
The event will bring together female business owners and entrepreneurs from over 25 countries, fostering collaboration and innovation across various sectors.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday in Lagos, Mrs. Helen Efue, Head of the CBW-Africa Steering Committee, emphasized the summit’s goal of amplifying women’s contributions to Africa’s economic growth.
Themed “Synergies for Sustainable Prosperity: Uniting Trade, Health, Wellness, Technological Advancement, Informal Sector Growth, and Clean Energy Solutions in Africa,” the summit aims to create strategic partnerships that drive long-term development.
“Nigeria’s hosting of this event reflects its pivotal role in Africa’s economic landscape,” Efue noted. She highlighted the organization’s diverse membership, which extends beyond the 19 Commonwealth nations to include countries like the USA, UK, Switzerland, and Guyana, underscoring a commitment to global collaboration.
Mrs. Tosin Sodeinde, CBW-Africa’s Partnership and Funding Lead, stated that the summit would spotlight intra-African trade while celebrating the continent’s rich cultural heritage through food, arts, and fashion.
Dr. Ada Onwuka, another CBW-Africa member, described the event as a unique platform for African women to share their experiences, gain mentorship, and access funding opportunities.
A key highlight of the summit will be the unveiling of the CBW-Africa Trade Centre, a strategic hub designed to facilitate cross-border trade and economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs across the continent.
With networking, advocacy, and economic transformation at its core, this summit promises to be a game-changer for African women in business.
