Fire Razes Over 40 Shops in Yobe’s Gashua Town
Less than a week after a fire disaster struck a market in Damaturu, Yobe State capital, another inferno has devastated the Kayya Kayya market in Gashua town, Bade Local Government Area.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that over 40 shops were affected in the incident, which occurred late at night. The fire reportedly began in a nearby residential building and quickly spread to the market, known for its vibrant commercial activities.
Prompt intervention by firefighters prevented the flames from reaching the town’s main market, averting further damage.
While no casualties were recorded, goods and properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed in the blaze. Local authorities have called for enhanced safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
