Flood: There will be no food shortage in Nigeria – FG

Amidst the current flood ravaging some communities in the country, the Federal Government of Nigeria has given an assurance that there would be no shortage of food in the country.
a long and short-term measure that will ameliorate the distribution of food production and supply by the recent flood incidents in the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) Dr. Muhammad Mahmood Abubarkar stated this in a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, Agriculture, food and security remain the core priorities of the Government.
He said improving infrastructure, research access to insurance and credit as well as creating an environment for the development of commodity value chain, assurance of increased wholesale food production, employment, wealth creation and agri-business in the country were imperative.
In order to guide it interventions, he said that the Ministry in collaboration with relevant MDAs carried out 2022 wet season Agricultural Performance Survey of the country to provide empirical data.
He added that the Ministry was working assiduously and harmoniously with a wide range of stakeholders to explore the window of domestic and foreign collaborations and investment in the nation’s development process of attaining food and nutrition self-sufficiency, enterprise promotion, employment generation and wealth creation.
