Foundation Rallies Nigerians to Support Widows of Fallen Soldiers
By Comrade Philip Ikodor
The Ashlee Momoh Foundation (AMF) has called on Nigerians to unite in support of widows and families of military personnel who lost their lives defending the nation, urging greater compassion and collective responsibility toward those left behind.
The appeal was made during the foundation’s inaugural outreach programme, where its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Princess Ashlee Omonegho Momoh, reaffirmed her commitment to improving the welfare of bereaved military families.
Speaking at the event, Princess Ashlee stressed that the sacrifices made by fallen soldiers should not be forgotten, noting that their families deserve sustained care and recognition.
“We must come together as a nation to stand by the widows and children of these heroes. Their loved ones paid the ultimate price for our peace and security, and it is only right that we show them support and appreciation,” she said.
Founded in 2016, the Ashlee Momoh Foundation has focused on providing assistance to families of fallen service members through humanitarian interventions and community support initiatives. According to the founder, the organisation’s work is driven by a deep sense of duty to honour the memory of the fallen by uplifting those they left behind.
The outreach programme also featured a keynote address by Dr. Iwowarri Berian James, Chief Executive Officer of GoldenRays Energy Health Services Ltd, who underscored the importance of addressing psychological trauma among widows and their children. He highlighted the need for structured support systems, particularly in managing post-traumatic stress, to help families rebuild their lives.
As part of the event, the foundation distributed relief materials including food items, clothing, and financial assistance to beneficiaries. The initiative not only provided immediate support but also celebrated the courage and resilience of the widows.
AMF further encouraged individuals, organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the foundation in expanding its outreach and ensuring that no family of a fallen hero is left without care.
The organisation reiterated its openness to collaboration and called on affected families to connect with the foundation for support, as it continues its mission to restore hope and dignity to those who have sacrificed so much for the country.
