FRSC gets new commands, patrol vehicles to ensure safety on Gombe roads
In a bid to ensure safety and enhance visibility in Gombe State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Friday inaugurated one Area and two unit commands in the state.
Mr Felix Theman, the Sector Commander of the corps stated this at the State Command’s headquarters in Lafiyawo community of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.

Theman said that the two new units which are RS3.24 Billiri and RS3.25 Dukku were upgraded from station offices to full fledged Unit Commands while the new Area Command is located in Kaltungo.
He stated that the new commands were based on the requests made to the FRSC Directorate Headquarters in Abuja and subsequent approval by Corps Marshal Dauda Ali-Biu.
The sector commander said two brand new Maxus patrol vehicles and other equipment as well as staff were released for the new commands.
“Having evaluated the traffic wave, major routes and towns: the need to expand our presence with a view to providing the most essential aspects of our mandate became most apparent.
“We engaged stakeholders, received requests from communities to include them in our proposals towards bringing sanity on our roads.
“I am glad to inform you that the Corps Marshal Dauda Ali-Biu approved our request and released vehicles and staff for same, “he said.
Theman said two units of extrication machine and one unit of digital breathalyzer had been deployed for ease of removal of trapped victims of crashes as well as test for alcohol abuse as part of management’s determination to improve FRSC services.
According to him, the new offices and vehicles would ensure that the state is adequately covered and the motoring populace will enjoy the corps’ services since the corps was now closer to the motorists.
The sector commander commended the efforts of Gombe State government in terms provision of road infrastructure as well as support for the activities of the corps in state.
“However, as Oliver Twist will always ask for more, the state government may support the command with two additional ambulances to man the proposed Help Areas at Gona/Marraraban Tumu and Bambam in Akko and Balanga LGA respectively.”
Also speaking, Mr Idris Buba, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport , Gombe State commended Corps Marshal Ali-Biu and FRSC Gombe State command for efforts to improve safety on roads.
Buba assured the corps of the state government’s commitment under the leadership of Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State to supporting all efforts at ensuring safe road use in the state.
