Goje Family Debunks Viral Video Alleging Money-Spraying at Daughter’s Wedding
The family of Senator Danjuma Goje, former Governor of Gombe State and current Senator for Gombe Central, has refuted a viral social media video falsely claiming that money was sprayed at the wedding of his daughter, Fauziyya Danjuma Goje.
In a statement released by Muhammad Adamu Yayari, media aide to Senator Goje, the family dismissed the video as a “calculated attempt to tarnish the image” of the family and the high-profile guests who graced the occasion.
The wedding ceremony, which took place on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Central Mosque in Abuja, attracted several prominent dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajuddeen Abbas, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as well as serving and former governors, lawmakers, and security officials. President Tinubu served as the “Waliy” (guardian) of the bride, while former Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo represented the groom.
The Goje family denounced the video as a “malicious fabrication” by mischief-makers, asserting that it was unrelated to the wedding.
The family stressed that neither the individuals in the video nor the events depicted had any connection to the ceremony, emphasizing their commitment to uphold the laws of Nigeria and the values of decency.
The statement also highlighted that the wedding followed strict guidelines, ensuring no inappropriate mixing of men and women throughout the celebrations.
The family expressed appreciation for the support and goodwill shown by friends and well-wishers during the joyous occasion, urging the public to disregard the baseless claims circulating online.
