Gombe Standstill as Dankwambo returns Home
Gombe, the state capital was agog on Saturday as former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo returns to a mammoth crowd.
Our correspondent reports that the immediate past Governor has been away for over three years. He arrived in the state capital at about 2 pm on Saturday and was received by teeming supporters, including members and chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state who accompanied him from the airport to the party secretariat.
Dankwambo expressed delight at the reception accorded him and, with a grateful heart, thanked party members who defied the scorching sun to welcome him at the airport. He announced a cash donation of N6 million naira to party officials in the 11 local governments of the state.
Speaking to newsmen at his residence the former Governor said he return to commune with stakeholders in the state and also assess the performance of the state government in the areas of security, projects and human development.
Unconfirmed report indicates the former governor’s desire to vie for the Senatorial seat of Gombe North in 2023, the position he contested and lost to the incumbent Senator Sa’idu Alkali in the last 2019 polls.
