Gov. Fintiri Draws Support for Families of Fallen Heroes
Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri has called on Nigeria to show respect to fallen heroes and to show concern for their children and the windows of the deceased heroes. He made the call in an interview with newsmen at the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration on Saturday in Yola.
Speaking at the event, Governor Finitri said that the fallen heroes had contributed positively for peace and United Nigeria, adding that their invaluable contributions would remain indelible in the annals of the country and urged all hands to be on deck to ensure that peace and unity which the fallen heroes fought and died for are sustained.
Furthering, the Governor that assistance to the families of the fallen heroes would help to cushion the pains of losing their loved ones and at the same time further motivate other Nigerians in renewing their faith and belief in the Nigerian project.
“As others have died in the cause of maintaining the peace of the country, we that are alive should also toe the path of keeping the peace and unity of Nigeria,” he said.
Continuing, Finitri stated that the togetherness of the country is non-negotiable, noting that togetherness fosters peace and development.
“We will continue to maintain one country and in peace and unity. We the leaders will continue to deploy development so that the citizens will feel better and united,” he said.
Warrant Officer, Mohammed Ali (Rtrd), Chairman Nigeria Legion, Adamawa Chapter who also spoke to newsmen at the event, described the event as special and memorable, noting that the retirees were not tired as they were also contributing their part in maintaining peace and unity in the state and country at large.
According to him, the Legion is also doing its best in assisting the widows and families of fallen heroes.
His words: “We are retired, but certainly not tired, especially in issues bothering on the unity and progress of our dear nation. We have no other country we can call our own except Nigeria. Therefore, providing our assistance at all times in maintaining peace in the country is our civic responsibility. For our fallen heroes, their names are already written in gold, and we shall continue to identify with their families...”
