Continuing, Alh. Inuwa used the medium to express his profound appreciation to the various participants, who came from various nooks and corners of Gombe State, to honour the invitation despite their tight schedules.“
This is a further demonstration of your dedication and sacrifice towards the development of our dear state, the Sub-region, and the country as a whole,” he added.
He further noted that the assignment is similar in form to the engagements earlier carried out for the preparation of DEVAGOM, the 10-year plan his administration developed to serve as a development roadmap for Gombe State.
He stressed that its preparation was facilitated by seasoned development experts and practitioners, supported by local and international partners, adding that it derives its contents also from state-wide stakeholders’ consultation, spanning all the 114 wards of the State that were aimed at deepening ownership of the development process and promoting greater inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in governance.
“Today, this helps to track our performance and plan for the future. Copies of the document are presented for guidance and reference to details in the upcoming discussions by our representatives and other participants.”
Furthering, the governor stressed that the North-East Development Commission is one of the numerous democracy dividends this sub-region is enjoying under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He noted that the commission was established in 2019 to facilitate the quick recovery and socio-economic development of this subregion following the devastation caused by the Boko Haram insurgency.
“Since inception, the Commission has recorded many laudable achievements, especially in areas of humanitarian assistance, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of communities affected by the war.
However, to give this young commission a sound footing and ensure that it delivers on its statutory mandates,” he added.
He stated that the production of a master plan through this inclusive engagement process will certainly yield workable and acceptable strategies for the commission’s activities in the sub-region.
“Such a feat will be a milestone and a big leap in our collective history and achievements. It will give us a road map for the transformation of critical sectors enshrined in the North-East Development Commission’s mandates.”
Concluding, governor Inuwa expressed hope that the document which is in the process of being developed would provide effective strategies and practical steps that will be taken to achieve the objectives of the NEDC.
He urged, therefore, urge them to provide valuable inputs during each of the thematic sessions bearing in mind that, as stakeholders in the state, they are the voice of the people and assured them of his resolve and that of his colleagues at the North-East Governors Forum to do everything possible to ensure that their views are sufficiently reflected in the document and that the stabilization and development masterplan for the sub-region is fully implemented by the NEDC.
