Gov. Mutfwang Inspects New Police Barracks, Vows to Tackle Insecurity in Plateau
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on Monday inspected a newly constructed Mobile Police Barracks at Gashish District in the Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area (LGA), reaffirming his commitment to tackling insecurity in the state.
The barracks, built by the National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) as part of its corporate social responsibility to power-generating communities in Nigeria, was a key focus of the governor’s visit.
Governor Mutfwang praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, for agreeing to deploy officers to the new facility, emphasizing the significance of this development for the safety of the people.
“This facility is part of the efforts to improve security in our communities, and I want to assure the IGP that we appreciate his support,” Mutfwang said. “We will ensure that everything needed to make this barracks fully operational will be provided.”
He urged the residents of Barkin-Ladi to maintain peace, noting that the days of conflicts and insecurity in the region are over.
“I want to send a strong message to all criminals – whether they are Christians or Muslims – that this government will not tolerate any form of violence or criminal activity,” Mutfwang stated. “We will go after the troublemakers and ensure that they cannot find peace in our state. If they cannot live among us peacefully, they should leave.”
The governor also took the opportunity to inspect additional proposed sites for the construction of police barracks in Kwall, Bassa LGA, as part of his administration’s ongoing efforts to bolster security in Plateau State.
