The Association of Governors Forum in Morocco (AGF) has wooed investors to Yobe State by exhibiting Gam Arabic and sesame seeds at the forthcoming international trade fair in Meknes, Morocco.
According to the Forum, this will enable the state government to showcase its various agricultural produce for exports to earn foreign exchange.
The Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, on Thursday, in Rabat, Morocco, stated, “The Executive Director of Forum (association), Mohammed El Bachiri, is ready to collaborate with the state government in attracting investors and marketers for the various direct and indirect investments in the state.
Besides the wooing of investors, Mamman added that, under the Morocco-Yobe investment partnership, there are windows to finance agriculture, the environment, housing, and climate change in the local government areas of the state.
The Secretary to State Government, Baba Malam Wali, who led the economic team to Morocco, said, “We’ll take advantage of the forthcoming international trade fair,” stating, “Yobe state, during its first international trade exhibition, presents the major agricultural products, including Gam Arabic and sesame seeds.
Wali continued, “We’ve high-quality graded sesame seeds, Gam Arabic, beans, peanuts, and livestock, among other agricultural produce.”
He noted that the state has a comparative advantage in the production of agricultural products that will be showcased at the Meknes International Trade Fair.
Highlighting agricultural products’ exhibitions, the SSG stated, “Governor Mai Mala Buni has directed us to partner with reputable agencies and organisations to create job opportunities,” noting that the partnership with Morocco will also create wealth to reduce unemployment and poverty among youths and women in the state.”
The state commissioner of agriculture, Mustapha Goniri, also corroborated the state’s comparative advantage of production: Yobe produces and processes high-quality graded sesame seeds for both industrial and household uses.
