The Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Brigadier General Wisdom Etuk, has made a resounding call for allegiance to the system as he adorned the recently promoted senior officers with their new ranks and insignia. Highlighting the paramount importance of loyalty as a fundamental virtue upheld by the Armed Forces of Nigeria, General Etuk emphasized that the commitment to this value should never be compromised by any member of the military.
General Etuk gave the remarks while presiding over the formal decoration of eight senior officers who had meritoriously ascended to higher ranks following the 2023 promotion promulgation sanctioned by the Army Council at the HQ NACOLM Permanent Site in Ojo, Lagos on the 6th of December 2023.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed staff officers, families, and well-wishers, adding a sense of occasion and significance to the investiture ceremony.
General Etuk’s call for loyalty resonated throughout the gathering, reaffirming the enduring commitment of the Armed Forces to uphold the core values that define their service. As the newly decorated senior officers embark on the next phase of their careers, the echoes of the commandant’s charge for loyalty are poised to guide them in their continued dedication to the nation and its defence.
Speaking further, the Commandant, extended heartfelt congratulations to the recently elevated senior officers and called upon them to redouble their dedication in order to validate the trust placed in them by the Nigerian Army. Emphasizing the profound significance of the investiture, General Etuk underscored the symbolic weight of the occasion, highlighting the pivotal role it plays in the lives of the honored officers.
Acknowledging the substantial responsibilities that accompany their newfound ranks, the Commandant urged the officers to reassess their personal ethos, placing particular emphasis on the virtues of integrity, loyalty, and empathy. He articulated that the elevation to higher positions demands a heightened commitment to these values, reflecting the profound impact that their conduct and leadership will have on the institution and the nation at large.
General Etuk implored the newly decorated senior officers to maintain allegiance to the Service, while also emphasizing the importance of caring for their families. He humbly appealed for the continued support of the officers’ families, underscoring the reciprocal nature of the responsibility that accompanies the honor bestowed upon the officers.
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for his steadfast backing of the College and for recognizing the merit of the promoted officers, underscoring the significance of the promotion as a catalyst for enhanced dedication to their service within the system.
Highlights of the event were presentation and investiture of beneficiaries, words of advice from distinguished Directors and Chief Instructors, refreshments, vote of thanks and a group photograph to climax the ceremony.
Present at the event were the Deputy Commandant/Director of Studies Brigadier General JIB Manjang, Director of Administration Brigadier General OJ Majebi, Faculty and Administrative Staff of the College amongst other invited guests.
