NAF Air Strikes Decimate Terrorists’ Hideouts in the Lake Chad Region
By Lawrence Audu
In a relentless and strategic move to combat terrorism, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified air strikes on terrorists’ hideouts in the Tumbuns near Lake Chad under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK). The latest series of strikes, carried out on 24th March, targeted a location Northwest of Arina Woje in the Tumbuns, based on actionable intelligence indicating terrorist activities in the area.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the strikes were a response to confirmed reports of terrorists’ hideouts concealed within clusters of structures under trees near the targeted location. The precision strikes were aimed at degrading the capabilities of the terrorist elements operating in the region and safeguarding civilians residing near Arina Woje in Borno State.
Following the air strikes, a comprehensive Battle Damage Assessment conducted revealed that a significant number of terrorists were neutralized, and their hideouts were set ablaze.
This successful operation has effectively hampered the ability of the terrorist groups to launch attacks on surface forces and innocent civilians in the region.
The Nigerian Air Force Gabkwet said, remains resolute in its commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the nation’s citizens. The continued collaboration between intelligence agencies and the military exemplifies the proactive approach in combating terrorism and insurgency in the region.
