NAF Airstrikes Target Terrorist Food Depot, Neutralise Dozens in Lake Chad
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed a terrorist food depot and neutralised dozens of insurgents during airstrikes in the Jubillaram area of the Lake Chad Basin, according to a statement released on Monday by Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information.
The operation, conducted on Nov. 23 as part of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), targeted a strategic enclave used by terrorists as a food storage facility and hideout for commanders and fighters. Akinboyewa noted that the site was identified through detailed intelligence gathering and linked to recent attacks on military forces, including a Nov. 16 assault in Kareto.
“NAF aircraft carried out robust air interdiction missions, destroying key structures and neutralising several terrorists,” Akinboyewa said. “Follow-up mop-up operations with aircraft cannons ensured the complete elimination of fleeing hostile elements.”
The strikes, supported by extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, revealed terrorist activities camouflaged within dense vegetation. The operation not only eliminated a critical supply hub but also significantly disrupted the terrorists’ logistical and operational capabilities.
The air interdiction further underscores the NAF’s commitment to eradicating threats to Nigeria’s security, Akinboyewa stated, adding that the Air Force remains dedicated to executing independent and joint counterterrorism missions to secure national peace and stability.
This successful mission marks a strategic victory for OPHK as it continues its offensive against insurgents in the Lake Chad region.
