NAF Strikes Terrorists in Kaduna, Zamfara, Destroys 25 Illegal Refining Sites in Rivers, Imo
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a series of airstrikes against terrorists in Kaduna and Zamfara states, killing at least 20 insurgents and destroying their strongholds.
According to a statement by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the airstrikes were conducted in response to the recent upsurge of terrorist activities targeting innocent civilians in Niger State.
Intelligence gathered revealed that the terrorists responsible for the attacks were based in Kaduna State, specifically in the Malum Forest area of Igabi Local Government Area. The NAF therefore planned and executed an air interdiction mission on August 21, 2024, targeting the terrorists’ stronghold, resulting in the destruction of 5 terrorist camps and the neutralization of 15 insurgents.

In addition to the airstrikes, the NAF also conducted patrols in the Niger Delta Region, where 25 illegal refining sites and overhead tanks were destroyed in Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State, and Degema and Cawthorne Channel in Rivers State. The destroyed sites had a combined capacity of 150,000 liters of illegally refined petroleum products.
The NAF also reported a leaking pipeline in Greenville, Rivers State, which was observed to have caused significant environmental damage, affecting over 150 meters of land and waterways.
The airstrikes and patrols Gabkwet said, are part of the NAF’s efforts to eliminate terrorism and illegal activities in the country.
