In order to express their resentment and dissatisfaction with the outcome of the Nasarawa State governorship election, a sizable group of women have decided to protest on the streets of Lafia on Thursday by stripping completely naked.
After the March 18 governorship election, women in Nasarawa State began demonstrating on Tuesday and reached day three on Thursday, March 23. Viral footage of these protests were uploaded online.
Women protested in the streets after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Governor Abdullahi Sule, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had won the Nasarawa State governorship election.

They protested because INEC proceeded to declare a winner of the governorship race despite there being disagreement over the results from the state capital’s Gayam and Ciroma electoral wards.
While demonstrating, some of the women wore black clothing. Some completely disrobed and scowled their resentment in front of the camera.
The women claimed that they did not vote for Governor Sule and that he forced himself on them by faking election results in the Gayam and Ciroma wards.
They chanted songs as they marched with placards that had inscriptions like, “Stop the conspiracy against our people,” “INEC should reverse the declaration now,” and “Our Vote must count. Ombugadu won.”
The State Returning Officer for the governorship election, Professor Tanko Ishaya, declared that Governor Sule of the APC polled 347,209 votes, to beat his closest rival, David Ombugadu of the PDP, who had 283,016 votes.
