Nationwide Power Supply Restored After Grid Collapse
In the wake of a widespread blackout that gripped the entire nation due to the total collapse of Nigeria’s electricity grid in the early hours of Thursday, September 14, 2023, the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko Disco) has delivered some long-awaited good news.
The massive loss of power supply to distributors nationwide had prompted concern and uncertainty among the populace. Multiple sources within the power sector, as well as electricity distribution companies, had confirmed the grid’s catastrophic failure.
Among the companies affected, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company Plc had issued an official notice titled ‘Notice of Total System Collapse’ on the same day. Eko Disco had similarly conveyed the grim situation to the public.

However, relief came swiftly as Eko Disco, in an official statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), confirmed the successful restoration of the national electricity grid and the resumption of power supply.
The statement from Eko Disco reassured customers, saying, “Dear valued customer, kindly be informed that power supply has been restored from the grid. Thank you for your patience.”
With power now flowing once again across the nation, many can breathe a sigh of relief after a temporary period of uncertainty and inconvenience caused by the grid’s unfortunate collapse.
