NEMA restates commitment to exceptional service delivery
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring excellent and exceptional service delivery to all stakeholders.
Mrs Zubaida Umar, director-general of NEMA, said this at the 2024 Customer Service Week celebration in Gombe on Monday.
Umar said the theme for the 2024 CSW celebration, ‘Above and Beyond,’ was a reminder of the need to strengthen service delivery to the satisfaction of customers.
Represented by the Head of Operations, NEMA Gombe State office, Hajiya Ummunah Ahmad, Umar said commemorating the day was part of the agency’s effort at providing good and improved services.
“I welcome all stakeholders to the programme despite short notice and also recognised the contributions of both the service providers and customers who rely on us to provide them with timely, efficient and compassionate assistancw.
“The programme is a global initiative aimed at evaluating the activities of the service providers (NEMA) from the customers (victims of natural disasters or impacted communities,” she said.
She observed that as emergency managers, the agency’s quality of services was akin to a difference between life and death.
According to her, customer service week is a global awareness initiative that recognises the essential role of customer service in organisations and the people who provide those services.
Umar, further, stated that as service providers, there was the need to create an avenue for esteemed customers to give feedbacks so as to know were there was need for improvement, so “we can correct our mistakes for efficient and effective service delivery.”
The dg lauded all its stakeholders for supporting the agency towards timely humanitarian service delivery that had impacted positively on the lives of victims of disaster.
Stakeholders at the programme include, SEMA, Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Fire Service, Nigerian Red Cross Society, NEMA GEVC and media.
