New Year Address by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State
In a state-wide broadcast today, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the people of Gombe State on the occasion of the New Year 2024. Acknowledging the diverse cultural landscape of Gombe, the Governor congratulated the Christian community on a joyous Christmas celebration, emphasizing the strength that lies in unity, love, and harmony.
Reflecting on the remarkable events of 2023, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude for his re-election as Governor and the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He recognized these milestones as a collective expression of the people’s will to progress under the banner of renewed hope advocated by the APC.

The Governor extended appreciation to the people of Gombe State for the honour to serve another term and pledged commitment to fulfilling the mandate with dedication. Addressing the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidy, Governor Inuwa Yahaya acknowledged the resulting economic hardships and highlighted government interventions, including wage grants, food and agricultural support, and ongoing palliative measures.
He announced the rollout of the second phase of the palliative food distribution program, targeting 90,000 beneficiaries, with a committee chaired by the deputy governor overseeing the initiative. Despite acknowledging the tough challenges ahead in 2024, the Governor expressed confidence in overcoming obstacles together.
Looking forward to the new year, Governor Inuwa Yahaya outlined the state’s focus on building an inclusive Gombe State, as outlined in the recently passed 2024 budget, termed the “budget of continuity and consolidation.” The priorities include investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, job creation, peace, and security.
The Governor called for unity in pursuing lasting peace and security, urging traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the public to collaborate.
