NSCDC reiterates commitment to protect schools nationwide
With the Safe School Initiative, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding all of the nation’s schools.
At a stakeholders workshop on verifying the Corps’ draught Standard Operating Procedure for the implementation of the initiative, the NSCDC Commandant General (CG), Ahmed Audi, made the pledge.
The validation of the draught, according to Audi, who was represented by Assistant Commandant-General for Operations Philip Ayuba, would guarantee the program’s full implementation across the country.

According to the CG, the goal of the safe school project was to put an end to attacks and kidnappings of schoolchildren nationwide.
“Operatives will continue to provide the needed security to schools, to ensure safe teaching and learning environment,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the participants would meticulously and completely create a SOP that would serve as a guide for carrying out the course.
According to the NSCDC director, the corps conducted a vulnerability survey of all the nation’s schools in 2021 and released the results so that appropriate action could be taken.
According to Audi, the National Safe School Response Coordination Centre was officially opened on February 13, 2023, by the corps in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.
He stated that the centre would organise the safe school program’s implementation.
The National Safe Schools Program Coordinator, Mrs. Halima Iliya, praised the NSCDC for its dedication to the nation’s school safety in her remarks.
The coordinator promised that money would soon be made available for the center’s appropriate launch.
Prof. Tyoor Terhemba, the committee’s chairman, stated that the SOP will serve as a guide for all parties involved in the program’s primary response operations.
