NYSC coordinator begs for orientation camp facilities in Yobe

The Yobe state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Abdulsalam Alhassan has solicited for orientation camp facilities corps members by 2029.
According to him, the existing camp facilities, including a conference hall and hostels for the corps members and officials are inadequate in the state.
Alhassan made the demands, over the weekend, while swearing in 1, 400 corps members deployed under the 2024 Batch ‘B’ camp orientation exercise.
He said that during the three-week intensive orientation, the corps members will be exposed to various programs and other activities that will provide a better understanding to the objectives the NYSC scheme in the state.
Besides, he added: “The federal government scheme will also ensure the corps members’ comprehension of the scheme’s goals, including environment, language, norms and culture to their host communities.
“Consequently, a comprehensive program has also been packaged which includes military drills, Man ‘O’ War, leadership raining.’
According to him, other programmes of the orientation activities included study of languages, lectures on entrepreneurship, sports, and others during the three-week camp orientations.

He also warned them against acts insubordination, as the assessment of service year commences right at the orientation camp.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by the Commissioner of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation,
Aji Yerima Bularafa pledged to present the NYSC camp facilities to Buni for consideration and his approvals to sustain the scheme in the state.
He urged the participating corps members to strengthen their discipline and tolerance with high level of sacrifice in serving their country.

He stated that the corps members actions or inactions from today will make or mar the objectives of the scheme to state government and communities.
Bularafa assured that government will continue to improve facilities other infrastructures, as well as the upgrade of the orientation camp for sustenance.
