The revered monarch of Ile-Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting national security efforts, pledging closer collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Osun State Comptroller, Morakinyo Akinyemi.

The visit took place on Monday at the historic Ile Oodua Palace, where the monarch received the immigration chief and his management team.

A statement issued by the palace’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, noted that the Comptroller’s visit was aimed at formally introducing himself and seeking royal blessings following his recent deployment to Osun State.

Speaking during the meeting, Akinyemi described the Ooni as a highly respected traditional leader whose influence extends beyond cultural boundaries. He said the visit was not only ceremonial but also strategic in building a strong working relationship with the palace.

“I am here to pay homage and seek royal blessings. It is always an honour to be in the presence of Your Majesty,” he said.

The Comptroller stressed the need for stronger ties between the Immigration Service and traditional institutions, noting that such partnerships are vital for intelligence gathering, public awareness on border security, and effective community engagement.

Responding, the Ooni commended the Immigration Service for its role in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and maintaining national security.

“I appreciate this visit and the respect it signifies for our traditional institutions. I have always maintained a cordial relationship with your agency, and I commend your efforts in safeguarding the country,” the monarch said.

The Ooni assured the Comptroller of the palace’s readiness to work closely with security agencies, emphasizing that traditional rulers remain key partners in promoting peace, stability, and development across communities.

He added that collaboration between modern institutions and traditional leadership structures is essential in addressing emerging security challenges and fostering national unity.
