Operation SAFE HAVEN Hosts AFCSC Junior Course 97 Students for Operational Insight
General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar has highlighted the successful efforts of OPSH in restoring peace and upholding law and order in its Joint Operations Area (JOA) in collaboration with civil authorities.
General Abubakar gave the remarks while receiving students from Junior Course 97 of the Department of Land Warfare at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji (AFCSC), Kaduna State.

Under the theme “Revitalizing Junior Leadership Training in the NA for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness in a Joint Environment,” the operational visit aimed to equip students with valuable insights and perspectives relevant to the challenges faced in combating insecurity, particularly on the Plateau. The emphasis was on the pivotal role of junior commanders in achieving operational objectives.
General Abubakar stressed the significance of the operational visit in providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the operational environment, including the challenges and limitations within the JOA. He underscored the people-centric approach of OPSH, emphasizing the collective efforts of the community, government, and security agencies in addressing security concerns.
In his remarks, the representative of the commandant AFCSC, Colonel TH Malu, said junior commanders must be operationally trained to carry out their duties effectively on the field. The team leader also added that, ethical and moral training of junior commanders will reawaken their sense of responsibility, thereby helping them in decision making through adequate mentorship while on operational duty.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the students, Capt I Sani, said students have been equipped with the knowledge of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in combating insecurity within OPSH JOA. He disclosed that knowledge gained during the operational visit will be put into good use during their stay in the college.
During the operational visit, the students are expected to visit formations of sister agencies in Plateau State to deepen their knowledge of the complexities inherent in the security architecture of the state.
The engagement with AFCSC students served as a platform to nurture the next generation of military leaders, preparing them for the complexities of modern security challenges and promoting cooperation among different stakeholders in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Highlights of the visit includes presentation of brief on the activities of OPSH, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs, and group photograph.
