The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji in a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, has successfully neutralized over 80 terrorists in Gidan Kare Village, Faskare Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The air strikes, which took place on the night of June 15, also destroyed 45 motorcycles belonging to the terrorists.
According to a statement by the Spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the strikes were carried out following intelligence that terrorists were planning to attack nearby villages. The terrorists, who were linked to notorious kingpin Yusuf Yellow and his associate Rabe Imani, were observed massing up at a location near Gidan Kare Village and Kuka Shidda Camp.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has commended the efforts of the Air Component and other security agencies in disrupting terrorist activities in the region. He made this known during a visit to the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina, where he feted the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji.
The air strikes are part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism and banditry in the Northwest region. The commissioned airfield facilities, including a new taxiway link, operations and engineering building, and sports complex, will enhance air operations in the region.
This development marks a significant milestone in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, and demonstrates the resolve of the military to restore peace and security to the country.
