The Borno Police Command has arrested three suspects for an attempted kidnapping of Mohammed Abubakar in the Askira/Uba Local Council Area of the state.
The State Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, stated this in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri.
“On January 21, 2025, three suspected kidnappers armed with a locally made pistol invaded the house of Mohammed Abubakar in Savon Gari Lassa; the victim, however, resisted the kidnap by raising an alarm in the community.
He said that the suspects, comprising Salisu Hussaini, 25, Umar Bello, 23, and Buhari Hussaini, 27, took to their heels.
“Our police officers from Uba Police Divisional headquarters swiftly swung into action by chasing the three suspects for an arrest.”
He added that the pistol allegedly used in the kidnap was also recovered from the suspects by the police.
Meanwhile, the ASP noted that the suspects are in police custody for further investigation into the attempted kidnap before prosecuting them in court.
The police commissioner, Yusufu Lawal, also warned the criminal elements to desist from their nefarious activities or face the full wrath of the law.
He also urged members of the public to call the police at 08068075581 and 08023473293 for any suspicious activities in the communities.
