Shettima Departs for Sweden to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
Vice-President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Wednesday for a two-day visit to Sweden, where he will represent Nigeria in a series of high-level bilateral engagements with Scandinavian officials.
In a statement, the vice-president’s spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, announced that Shettima’s visit, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, will focus on strengthening ties in key sectors, including ICT, education, digitalization, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.
During the visit, Shettima is set to meet Crown Princess Victoria and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to discuss collaborative opportunities between the two nations.
Additionally, Shettima will engage with stakeholders from both the government and private sector, including Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital firm that recently launched Norrsken22, a $205 million tech investment fund aimed at supporting African entrepreneurs. Nkwocha highlighted that 40% of this fund is earmarked for Nigerian tech entrepreneurs, a key point in discussions aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.
Shettima will also showcase Nigeria’s economic reforms and efforts to create an investor-friendly environment, while presenting the vast opportunities within Africa’s largest economy.
The vice-president is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday.
