Swift, fair administration of justice solution to Nigeria’s unending challenges – Inuwa
Gombe state governor Yahaya Inuwa says there is an urgent need for ‘swift, sure and fair administration of justice’ to tame the challenges facing the country.
The governor said Nigeria needs an incorruptible judiciary where justice can be dispensed to every class in the society without discrimination.
The governor made the advocacy at the swearing-in of Hon. Justice Halima Sadiyya Mohammed as the new Chief Judge, High Court of Justice in the state on Wednesday.
He said, “These challenges facing our dear nation cannot be tamed without ensuring the swift, sure, and fair administration of justice. We require an incorruptible judiciary where justice shall be dispensed to all manner of people in the State without discrimination, fear or favour.

“It is undeniable that unbridled corruption, violent crimes and numerous other forms of criminal behaviours have bedevilled our nation, making it extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, to meet our development aspirations and consolidate our constitutional democracy.
Inuwa who described the new chief Judge as a “woman of roundtable legal expertise” said she has been a source of inspiration to the younger generation.
He said her wealth of experience will help the state to fight crime and other social vices.
“Hon. Justice Halima Sadiyya Mohammed is a woman of redoubtable legal expertise, outstanding experience, strong character, and remarkable integrity, who will continue to serve as a source of inspiration to our daughters.
“As an experienced jurist, I do not doubt that she has what it takes to impact positively on the administration of justice in Gombe State. We believe that she will discharge her duties in this new role with utmost commitment and integrity, as she has always done for the benefit of our dear State.
“The importance of having such judicial officers with high levels of experience and moral rectitude at this moment in our national history cannot be over-emphasised.
He pledged that his administration would continually support the Judiciary and Legislature in discharging their statutory responsibilities effectively for the overall benefit of the good people of Gombe State.
Speaking on the forthcoming election, Inuwa called on all political parties, candidates, and their supporters to play by the rules and avoid the breakdown of law and order in the state.
“As we gear up for the national elections, I would like to use this opportunity to call on all political parties, candidates and their supporters to play by the rules and avoid anything that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.
“As I always stated, the peace and stability of our dear State are greater than the political ambition of any individual or group. The government is committed to deploying all available tools to guard our cherished peace and stability.”
