Taraba Targets N3 Billion Annual Revenue from Tourism
The Taraba State Government is projecting an annual revenue of N3 billion from its rejuvenated tourism sector, according to Joseph Nagombe, Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism.
Nagombe made the announcement on Tuesday during Governor Agbu Kefas’ interactive session with critical stakeholders from Taraba, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
He highlighted the revival of key cultural events, including the Nwonyo International Fishing Festival, World Tourism Day Celebrations, and the Febe Cultural Festivals, under the Kefas administration. Efforts are underway to upgrade facilities at these event sites to attract more visitors and maximize revenue.
“We are projecting N3 billion annually in tourism revenue once the upgrades at these festival sites are completed. The 2024 Nwonyo International Fishing Festival was adjudged the best in the country, and we aim to build on this success,” Nagombe said.
The Commissioner also appealed to Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retired) to construct a five-star hotel on the Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area to boost tourism. He called on investors to leverage the enabling environment created by the current administration to invest in the sector.
The interactive session, attended by Taraba’s National Assembly members, industry leaders, technocrats, and media representatives, emphasized the state’s commitment to diversifying its revenue sources and fostering sustainable economic growth through tourism.
