Tight Security at National Assembly as Tinubu Presents 2025 Budget
Security measures have been heightened at the National Assembly Complex in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly today.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the budget presentation, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, was postponed to Wednesday, Dec. 18.
In light of the event, the National Assembly management has directed all business operators and ancillary service providers, including banks and food vendors, to suspend operations for the day. Visitors and non-essential staff have also been advised to stay away from the complex until after the presentation.
Only essential personnel, accredited officials, and a select number of journalists are permitted entry into the premises under strict security protocols.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio will preside over the joint session, alongside Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen.
This marks President Tinubu’s second budget presentation since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
